Homemade Cheeseburger Helper

An easy, no stress dinner option. Perfect for when you're not sure what to make for dinner!

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef

  • 1/2 cup chopped onions*

  • 3/4 tsp dried minced garlic*

  • 1.5 cups tomato sauce**

  • 1.5 tbsp Yellow Mustard

  • 1.5 tbsp Worchestershire sauce

  • 3/4 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp pepper

  • 2 oz. cream cheese

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 6-8 oz. pasta***

Directions

1. Boil pasta according to directions on box (I actually cooked it for one minute less since we'll be baking it).

2. While pasta boils, preheat oven to 375 and brown ground beef on the stove. When beef is almost completely cooked, add chopped onions and minced garlic.

3. Once completely browned, drain any excess grease.

4. Add tomato sauce, mustard, worchestershire, salt, and pepper to mixture. Mix thoroughly.

5. Add cream cheese and 1.5 cups cheddar cheese. Mix thoroughly.

6. Add cooked pasta and combine.

7. Transfer meat/pasta mixture to an oven safe baking dish. Sprinkly the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top. Bake for 10-15 minutes (until cheese on top is nicely melted).

8. Enjoy!

Notes:

*I use dried chopped onions and dried minced garlic. I'm a huge fan of these ingredients because it saves some time and I usually have them in my spice rack. For the dried chopped onion, I used 2 heavy tablespoons.

**You may choose to use more or less of the tomato sauce. It's all about your preference of consistency. You don't want the mixture to be soupy, but remember, you'll be adding the cooked pasta at the end, so you don't want the mixture to be too dry either.

***I used some egg noodles that I had left over in the pantry. You can use whatever you prefer: elbow, penne, bow-tie...you name it. I would just cook whatever pasta you use 1-2 minutes less than directed on the box since it will be baked.
